Sothera, the Supervoid
A legendary enchantment that eats boards for breakfast—and a headliner foil so dark it ate the rules text.
#382 · identifiers redacted for publishEdge of Eternities put a black hole at the center of the set’s sky, then printed it as Sothera, the Supervoid: mythic legendary enchantment, {2}{B}{B}. On the battlefield it is a reciprocal exile engine with a nasty end-step punchline. In the case, though, the base #115 is the playable mythic—important, draftable, Commander-curious—but not, by itself, the headliner-tier chase. Collectors come for the special treatments: the textless Singularity Foil headliner and the flashy Fracture Foil Japan Showcase sibling.
Why it matters: EOE’s collecting story literally orbits Sothera. Wizards positioned a textless singularity-foil printing (EOE #382, art by Micha Huigen) as the set’s headliner—English, Collector Boosters of any language, appearing at a low (<1%) rate. Unlike Aetherspark / Mox Jasper, this headliner is not the classic numbered /500 serial pattern; the scarcity is the singularity treatment. Fracture foil showcase (#386, Mateusz Urbanowicz) is the secondary foil flex. Base Dominik Mayer #115 and borderless/special #360 (Urbanowicz) fill out the family.

Oracle (verified summary)
- Whenever a creature you control dies, each opponent chooses a creature they control and exiles it.
- At the beginning of your end step, if a player controls no creatures, sacrifice Sothera, then put a creature card exiled with it onto the battlefield under your control with two additional +1/+1 counters.
Gotcha (rules)
The end-step sacrifice/return only triggers if, as your end step begins, a player already controls no creatures. You cannot remove the last creatures during the end step to force the trigger. If every player controls a creature on resolution, nothing happens. (Rulings: 2025-07-25.)
Serialization note: Teammate shorthand listed “fracture foil / serialized.” Official EOE collecting language frames #382 as Singularity Foil headliner without the Aetherspark-style /500 stamp. Treat singularity foil as the ultra-rare chase; mark true serialization TBD / not evidenced pending archive slab photos.
